Surf

So my little sister has taken to Kite Surfing -  the sport, the life and the people.  She lives down in Bournemouth these days and after a weekend spent with her I can see why she loves it so much.  Now I know these aren't kite surfing images but they do encapsulate the 'life through an instagram lense' that I imagine when I think of California, surfing and the hazy days of 70's beach bums.
(and on that note, wish I had a beach bum like the one above!)

Wild Leaves

As the campfire's burning
As the fire ignites
All the moments turning
In the stormy bright
Well enough the churning
Well enough believe
The coming and the going
Wild wild leaves

Innocence

Morning all - a little Wednesday inspiration post for you.  I like the innocence of these images - like the subject has been caught unawares or you've taken a picture that didn't turn out as you expected but better!
Working on ideas for anothe patti Smith inspired post so keep your eyes peeled.
 Have a peaceful wednesday!

Margaux Lonnberg

She's long been recognised in the blogging world for her great inspo posts and photography capturing her envious Parisian lifestyle, so it's no wonder Margaux Lonnberg has made the move into designing.  With a range of  oversize t-shirts that have become  this lithe beauty's trademark  you'll be wanting to grab one of each in each colour.  But hold your horses you can't shop the collection untill Thursday and I'm first in line.
Margaux Lonnberg goes live here Thursday 12th July 2012

Just Kids

I've just been out and bought Patti Smith's 'Just Kids' and though I would pop some of these great images of her up, some of which were taken by Robert Mapplethorpe.  I love the etherial quality that lies in black and white pics from the 60's and 70's, there's something raw about this set that I'm drawn to.  She puts me in mind of Lou Doillon and Charlotte Gainsborough who share her waif like frame and unruly dark locks.  She's been inspirational to many people's wardrobes, including mine and I'm channeling her nonchalant look today with a fedora, slouchy black tea, skinny trousers and cowboy boots.
In the words of Smith herself-
“Please, no matter how we advance technologically, please don't abandon the book. There is nothing in our material world more beautiful than the book."

In Love

Say hello to the new man in my life! He's hot, he's quiet and he'll go with you to the sales without even trying to make excuses!  This is the latest addition to my wardrobe courtesy of my good friend Liz who owns, designs and creates bags for Miller and Jeeves.  I actually watched her make this on the way up to Edinburgh last weekend, which is why I think I'm so in love with it.  Seeing the work that goes into the manufacturing of something really makes you appreciate it's value and the skill of the creator. I love the shine of the feathers that lifts the bag and makes you want to look at it again and again (or maybe that's just me!)
Bag - handmade by Liz of Miller and Jeeves - see more of her creations on Not on the High Street or leave a comment below and I can put you directly in touch.

Thinking on...

open windows, sand between my toes, roof down drives and long hazy evenings.  I'm seriously missing summer sunshine and my travels last year at the moment.  If you're feeling a bit blue too hopefully some of these will put a smile on your face.

Space Cowboy

A little Monday afternoon pick me up and dream wish list on this miserable day! I'm working on Net-a-Porter's trend presentation for F/W at the moment and am loving the Futuristic trend seen at Proenza, Wang and Hakaan.  The above is my little twist on the trend.  By adding the A-mazing cowboy boots from Isabel Marant's new collection the outfit is less 'Beam me up Scotty' and more urban and wearable - I'm not about to go out in a mirrored visor or crystal embellished eyebrows a la Chanel!  To keep it cool and laid back go for metallics with the crinkle effect leather like this Acne clutch, then the look doesn't become too shiny and new but more relaxed and edgy (just a little tip!)
