Mules

So there I am just casually scrolling through the Asos website (when I should have been working) and what should I happen apon but these drop dead gorgeous mules.  Not only do they hit the monochrome trend bang on the nail but hello shiny, shiny toe cap! I can't think of a better transeasonal shoe - especially with this (ahem!) "Summer" we're having! Boyfriend jeans, leather jacket, grey tee and BOOM you are hot to trott my friends.
Grab a pair quick before they fly (P.S they come in black too!)

Inside Out

When I grow up I'd like to own a house with a wall of books, loads of art work and a wigwam in the back garden.  For now I'll settle for these great inspo shots of other people's homes (lucky buggers!).  a little break from fashion but to me your home reflects your style as much as your clothes. I'm currently trying to persuade my boyfriend to let me put a bleached cow skull above our bed when we eventually move into a flat.  Don't know quite how that reflects my style - it's not the deadness of the cow, more the form of the skull that I'm drawn to!   Anyway there it is my first inspo post, maybe there'll be more?!

Bonjour Celine

A few pics from the Celine Resort collection for 2013.  Love the white creased leather trousers in the first shot.  Looks like oversize is gonna move on through into next year so buy it big people!

Sunday's Wishlist

My debit card would be quaking in it's little plastic boots if it could see this post!  This time it's all about the details.  The slippers are my absolute favourite (and the main reason for all the quaking!) The heels have crystals set into them and added to the velvet and brocade they just purr 'take me home'!  And believe me if I could I most definitely would - is it illegal to sell a kidney for shoes do you think? The ear cuff is fortunately a little more within my price range as is the bag.  I love the aztec feel to the cuff which would add a great edge to even the chicest of outfits, I'd flick al my hair over to one side a la Erin Wasson and show this bad boy off for all to see.  And finally the bag. Again it's all in the details, the cut off corner takes this bag from everyday to unique and so subtly, I love it.  The interior holds yet more treats with grey and tan lining edged with non green zippers and tags.  There's more to all these pieces then meets the eye, and that's what makes them so desirable.

In the Sale

It's Sale Season!  The riffling through rails, the arm laden with clothes and the constant fear that the item you've waited to hit the sales has been snatched up by someone else.  So it's an added bonus of online shopping when you can browse without breaking a sweat at all the lovely reduced wonders.  This is my personal faourite, it comes in a bomber style too.  It's a great cross seasonal piece and might even be wirth getting in a size bigger so that it works for A/W's oversize trend. I love it with my ever faithful leather leggings and basic tee.
Reduced from £120 down to £70 you can get it (hassle free) here

Happiness is...

Today I was priveledged enough to be at the Royal Albert Hall to see the Dalai Lama give a talk on happiness.  It was an amazing experience and one I will always remember.  I'm an avid member of Free Tibet and spent a month in Tibet last year teaching children in an orphanage.  Thinking about foreign lands and the mysteries around them spurred me to share with you some of the things I've collected on my travels. My times away always inspire me and the relationships created whilst travelling are the what gives me pure happiness.  These pieces all remind me of a joke shared, a town explored or a journey survived.  I love finding things with a sense of history, it feels like I'm adding something to them and extending their lives with all the stories of my travels that become interwoven with the object.

Happiness for me is seeing the world and bringing some of it's wonders home with me.

Saddle Up

When I was little I absolutely loved Calamity Jane. I think I identified with her because of her, well...calamities!  (I was, and still am, a tad bit clumsy!)  And even now I find her an appealing character, not because of her rootin tootin storylines but due unwittingly to her fashion sense!  And it seems I'm not alone,  A/W shows brought with them the come back of the Wild West in the form of Miss Marant's tassles, prairie shirts and new take on the cowboy boot. So above for your viewing pleasure is how I've interpreted the micro trend for the modern day Calamity Jane.

Red

So I've told you all before that I'm not really a dress person!  But last night I had the opportunity to glam up for my friend's engagement party and I thought - why not?!  And thought I'd share my outfit choice with you lovely lot.  As the dress is fairly feminine I wanted to harden the look and did so by adding a chunky heel and studded bag.  The tassel is actually one bought in the Morrocan souks of Marrakesh and I think it adds a more bohemian edge to the bag.  I love the color of this dress, red is so eye catching and powerful and it genuinely made me feel more confident whilst wearing it.  It's a massive trend for A/W so grab something in any shade, from vermillion to burgundy.  Red is definitely not dead!

Folk-lore

Thought I'd write a quick little post on Aussie born jewellery designer Lucy Folk.  Having always collected friendship bracelets, be they mementos from a country travelled or a gift from a close friend they adorn my arm and are never removed!  So when I was sent Lucy's latest lookbook and saw these amazing Peruvian inspired trinkets I had to let you guys know.  Her pieces are actually inspired by food (not Peru) and these little half discs (which come in silver and gold) are actually a scaled down version of a Taco! This foodie jeweller fuses the best of the snacking world with the best of the jewellery world, other pieces from her collections feature popcorn, lobster legs and mini pretzels and are all equally good enough to eat. I love it!
Check out her other collections here or if you're wanting to grab a Taco head to Matches

TOTeM Salvaged

Send out the smoke signals - this is big news!
This is one of a handful of TOTeM Salvage's amazing premium bags available at Net-a-Porter.  The bag itself is huuuge - enough room to fit a pair of your best moccasins in!  Following on from my last post I think this would make a great addition to a monochrome outfit and I love the fact that each bag is different due to the use of vintage materials. It's got me dreaming of hazy desert roads, pick up trucks and bleached cow skulls.
